A Memory

Rugged and rebuffed it still sets all alone
A memory of my very long ago childhood
Vine covered with creepy crawlers all about
More frightening now then when a child I think
I remember the old outhouse from long ago

Hi Carol - I can see why this poem is a winner! When I was a little girl, I used to hear about outhouses, but they were a little before my time. - Gail

A beautiful poem. Very touching. I recollect a verse in Urdu language. The translation reads: Recollection of the past is killing me, O Lord/ Be merciful and take away my memory. Thanks Carol for your felicitation over the winning of my poem The Old Age in the First Round of the Contest. You are very kind. -Mohammad

Yea I remember those creep out houses... Sure brings back memories from when I was a kid. Out on our farm with our chickens, and 5 and a half acres. Sure was a lot of land for a little girl. Thanks for sharing! Jane
