A Measure of Love

I thought to measure love...
Then thought, what heart
puts a limit on the heart?
Does a mother tell a child
not after breakfast
only till noon
after tucking, on you own?

darling I love you
after sex, no hugging

I thought to measure love
then thought

Love, need never to be thought

Love, need not ever be sought

Just Love....

Hello Joe, I love how you start with the question of whether love can even be measured, then gently unravel it with those sharp little contrasts just like the mother and child, the lover after intimacy. Love isn’t meant to be rationed or timed, it just is. Blessings, Joe, Daniel

Love is something that comes by itself, unsought. Love cannot be sought or bought. It has a natural course and it finds its own space. Well said.

That was funny. No hugging after sex. I can imagine some guys saying that. I really like this theme and the clever way you express it

Hmmm…I read 3 times, then back over some individual lines, to consider your deep thoughts in one-on-one relationships, just meeting a smeone, or, say, surrounded by unknown others in grocery line. We are to look for the Jesus Christ in others (& self) = much love needed to find love from conception, learning/feeling/giving Love is not measureable/boundried/static. Bravo Joe

Hi Sally; wonderful comment. Thank you. To look for Christ in self and others...yet a measure of love. How much do we look for" 10% 50%? Yet measures of love. How much do I love you? A whole bunch. Closer. I love you more than life itself -- yet a measure of love. Though a great deal. Love is "not measurable/boundried/static", in the sense, non confinable. Best conclusion yet. Are we even capable of pure love, or only human facsimile? We are not...if we are only human. Which we are not. Lots to think about. Thank you, Sally. Hope your are feeling better.

And keeps stretching boundless -- I suspect present, even at the edges of the universe. And over, and beyond our dimensional edge.
