A Meander By Sea

Nothing is like water, when water's alone — Memories go out to sea, swam there unglued; The seashells on beach cease not spend away home. When the sky's kiss on water beneath us skews, The scarring inside leaves us, cumbersome; comb on my footprints, your own sweet dance talent moves. Gulls blow northeaster in the tide's crank, feeding There among ocean drifting into green sea — Then I lift off no more bars; for I go more within; as tomorrow bites on my each fin, So with it the clinging swell out of me pours — The healing woman of war in shell wherein. While in the salty races, soft skin is shorn; With a buoy her own heart's also dug in — Though with you, she's within the ocean homespun; You still pass the wave, that adieu going on —

Paige, this is like a tide of memory and self, ever-pulling and ever-spilling. I was especially struck by “the healing woman of war in shell wherein”--such a powerful, mythic image. Your language floats between ache and surrender, and “you still pass the wave, that adieu going on” leaves such a gentle ache behind. This one is seaworn and soul-deep.

I loved your last line I think it is my favorite. If water had eyes think of how many millions stories it could tell It is facinating to me that most of planet earth is water. Your poem has such feeling and emotion. Bless you

Love poems as dramatic as the sea, favorite line is "Then I lift off no more bars; for I go more within; as tomorrow bites on my each fin" bar none!

Beautiful images in this poem, Paige, with a cadence that matches a sense of "meandering." It makes me think of all the times I have taken slow, wending walks on the beach. Thank you for sharing. Blessings!
