I left everything behind me Thoughts of a life long ago gone Left by the edge of an asphalt interstate A long ago time Now fading memories Visions of a long love The girl I should have married Shared my life with Grown old with Fading in the dense grey fog of time I can remember her hair The smell of the shampoo she used I remember our first kiss So loving at that high school dance I remember the first time I told her I loved her I know why I wanted her in my life That was so many years ago Her face Her eyes Her lips are fading from my thoughts I know why I loved her I know why I still love her Time and space will not give me another chance Another chance to regain everything that I lost She is long gone And I will never find her again
