A Length of Rope
Remembering back
When I was younger
back in a previous life
when I enjoyed playing the game
Went out with my share of beaus
More than my share some would say
Foolish and naïve yes
But I always kept an ace up by sleeve
I always gave the guy a chance
In the form of a length of rope
Enough to hang himself
Should he so choose…
Sometimes it stung
But I was no fool
At the ripe old age of fifty
I married the first man
Who wanted nothing to do
With the rope
And that was game over
