A Leash-Led Life

Down through the thicket, Over and across the forest bend, A tail sways, as the wind lifts leaves of red and yellow. Aside a pond kissed with moss, we take a long walk on a clear day, crawdads and minnows astir. With hind quarters stiffly creaking forward, he pants and sniffs at vibrant life before stopping to rest and regain. At the edge of the lake, he laps the fresh water, his fur glistening, hot to the touch. Back home, he gets a warm bath, the fragrance of his fur calling to mind memories of previous days. And as he sleeps, that labrador of love on four legs, I am thankful for the leash-led life.

I love nature and this hike through your scene is beautiful. Nothing like a four legged perspective and the memories of the walk. Well done, I look forward to reading more of your poetry.

Not bad write, the first two lines grabbed me, with a twinge of excitement...you could have used them again further on, ..to emphasise ? ..don't be afraid of repetition , all in all an ok first poem, but work on the styling, remember less is more in many cases,...ill be back ...Ian

Jeffrey, Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@
