Shyly the saffron sun withdrew
Behind the purple hills.
All was calm and lonely.
I sat at the tiller of my boat.
Barely moving in the placid lake.
Occasionally a fish would jump
Out and back in the water,
Leaving a vortex of rings,
It reminded me of
Visions of vibrant views
Of a spiral galaxy far off
The Leo constellation.
Perhaps there is a habitable planet there!
It was a sight not possible to see
Without proper equipment.
So I kicked the boat’s engine alive
And headed to the shore.
As usual the beach was not clean.
Used paper plates, empty tins,
Garbage bags overflowing.
Man will never learn.
How I wish I could survive
To live alone in that galaxy.
