Mama looked so sad for me
when I cried each night,
rocking me and hugging me
till we saw daylight.
Something hurt inside my mouth.
She put things in there
meant to “pacify” (what’s that?)
I liked rocking chair!
One day Mom exclaimed out loud
happily to Dad,
“Look, our baby’s got a tooth.”
They were both so glad.
Mom and Dad are acting proud,
saying, “Look at him!”
so I smile widely showing
one big “toothy” grin.
