A Dream Serene

If the world I am not gifted to astound, Then let me by others’ genius be regaled. Perchance by fervent crowds I shall not be crowned, But O, the joy when I’m by loyal friends hailed. A life lush with lucre I can scant surmise, The gold of contentment will for me suffice. If I am never to know a love supreme, Then, my mistress moon, weave me a dream serene.
