A Do-Over
I watch the waves as they first touch land,
and a bit further before they recede.
They wipe away what was there on the sand.
If we could do the same to things we don't need.
If and when we make a mistake
we could rectify it right away.
We could wipe it away like a seascape,
An "It never happened", you might say.
As a child we had do-overs, in our play.
Reworked things to be as they should.
Extend the concept into today,
To do do-overs whenever, if only we could.
A good idea but one that will never be.
We only have once to do it and get it right.
Making sure of what we're doing is the key.
Are we able to do it, you never know, we just might.
