A Dance Around the Fire

Crimson twirl, golden pirouette,
Stumble and fall into the fire pit.
We dance, but distant from
Sweet misery’s focal set.

Gnawing flames, our distant sun
A futile fixation; undone
From addiction, to innocence,
We dance around the sun.

A flash of searing genesis
For one moment upon the precipice,
I leapt into the burning kiss.
Anything to fill the emptiness.
