A Christmas Wish
It's almost Christmas once again filling the air
with the scent of cookies, bread, turkey, and fresh pine.
Santa is listening to wishes and prayers,
do I dare ask this year or do I wait in line.
Sleigh bells heard beneath twilight and the earth below.
I know you are traveling from quite a distance
where everything is covered with glistening snow
and the elves and reindeer come to your assistance.
Dear Santa, if you could, just one present I wish.
A normal boy I wish to be once more so I
can run and play with my friends, be able to fish
with my dad now and then, stand and look to the sky.
I'm in my room looking out the window to get
a glimpse of Santa and I promise I won't fret.
