A Cat Disappeared

in summer
 a cat appeared
 in my backyard
 every day
 bathed in the sunshine
 rolled on its back
 then sneaked under the fence
   on its merry way...

 now a forbidding wind moans
 leaves snap off of trees
 late afternoons
 the hawk is out
   the sky, an angry gray

There’s beauty and there’s death … not my words, borrowed from a James Bond film

I can tell, Seeker. Because James Bond is nowhere near as poetic as you are!! Truth will out!

'a stalking hawking' - now there's a turn of phrase I like! Thanks, Bill!

Hmmm...I wonder what happened to the cat? The hawk? There are so many feral cats in my neighborhood. I try to be friendly, but they will have no part of me.
