Notes About The Poem

A Bullfrog's Croak

Silent as smoke, darkness descends; while shadows merge and daylight ends. For, summoned by a bullfrog's croak; darkness descends, silent as smoke. The Moon pools in ebony skies; and gilded gold; She starts to rise. One of the night's brightest jewels; in ebony skies: the Moon pools. Blue bleeds red from a dying sun, a telltale sign that Day is done. Inking crimson clouds overhead; from a dying sun, blue bleeds red. Signaling for love, fireflies flash, as dusk settles like sooty ash. Under the stars, twinkling above; fireflies flash, signaling for love.

Emile, your entry would be fascinating enough with only your wonderfully descriptive language. I've grown fond of the Quatrain form and you excel at it. Congratulations on your placement.

You've created a wonderful Swap Quatrain for mile 10, Emile. I've yet to find the courage to write the form, but Milton is correct in that you made it look like just another poem. It's your skill that allows you to write so many forms and do each one properly. Congratulations.

Emile, what a brilliant title for such a beautiful swap quatrain. Your photo choice is perfect. What's also interesting is you can make another beautiful poem combining the first line of each stanza. A Fav for me. Congratulations on your podium finish on Mile 10 of my 2022 Poetry Marathon Contest. Keep your running shoes on, because Mile 11 has already started. Also, check out my blog post to view your current standing in the Marathon.

Emile, congratulations on your placement in the marathon. This poem is absolutely delightful. And, perfectly written. I think I'll try to do this, but i'm thinking it must be really difficult to compose and have it come out so perfect as yours.

Okay, Emile, I gave it a try. My poem is "Foggy Morning Rising," and I had to use some near-rhymes because there weren't any rhymes, according to Rhyme Zone. It was a first attempt, which was fun. So I hope you like it.
