In late October, many years ago, surprised we were, as we awoke at dawn; looked out the window to behold some snow- an inch or two had carpeted the lawn. And too, that morn made us recall with tears, one month before this day, our Charlie passed. Our feline pet we'd loved for twenty years, rekindled thoughts on memories amassed. With breakfast done, we opened the front door and saw one track of paw prints from his tomb that stopped right there- mysterious! Therefore, since none showed going back, we did assume they walked his spirit to us through the snow- that keeps his presence here from long ago. September 17, 2018

What other explanation could there be? Perhaps his presence is still with you, Sandra. You always write beautifully in the sonnet form, just as Paul has indicated below. Congratulations on a first-place win. Best wishes, Carolyn

This is indeed a beautiful mystery, Sandra! An everlasting bond lasting beyond earthly life! I very much like the flow, rhythm and meter to which you gave due attention. Regards // paul

Wow! You have seen what others see, but have no idea how to express. Well done my friend, and completely understood.

This is SOO wonderfully composed. Not just the meter and rhyme, which are perfect, but the conveyance of this story is just superb. Everything even more so realizing it actually happened...

Oh, thank you again, Jesse, for reading my poem and for your very supportive comment. Yes, our Charlie cat was very special, and I've written many poems about him. Thanks again for your visit. Sandra :)
