A 9-11 Tale With Heart

A beautiful, perfect, autumn day it was. The gold and red sneaking in the Central Park leaves as it always does. I wanted to stay home with my wife and son. But realized there were bills to be paid and then some. So after my shower, breakfast and things, I just sipped on my cup of Joe, admiring our gold wedding rings. Our son Teddy was at our feet. I thanked God for us three, at our cozy family meet. . Alas, too soon would I have to go. I kissed Mary and Teddy and told them, I loved them so! Ah, the day was so perfect chiseled by God's own making. I sat on the lone bench to thank Him for His Glorious undertaking. . I grabbed by attaché case and off I went. To work in the great Twin Towers,where I know God wanted me sent. Everyone so happy that day, some even spoke of Christmas? Though it was months away,I was grateful to God for all of my life! Especially my beautiful son and stunning wife. Of course you all know what happened next. Hell broke out and we all did our best, to return safely to our earthly nest. It was not to be for me! The smoke thick and heavy overcame me so rapidly. I clutched my cross and begged God to take me home. I awoke, and the air was beautiful and clear. You know I already missed my son and wife so very dear, But I was being beckoned to gates of gold. And I knew the Bible well, I knew what it foretold. And yes, the Gates of Heaven swung open widely for me. Now the real journey of my life, was just beginning for me! . Oh Panagiota, such a truly heartbreaking poem, so well written and capturing so much emotion it brought tears to my eyes, as if it was only yesterday when those horrific images were beamed across the world after such an evil and cowardly act of terrorism that truly shocked the world. Fear was in the USA for quite a while. People in NYC went into therapy after that. I recorded hours and hours for days, I wanted to go and help. It was wonderful to see the world weeping for us. Such love! Thank you.....I wrote this lat year but forgot to post it....love you Ann! Panagiota. I love the UK as well.))))

I really enjoyed reading your verse this morning, Panagiota, placing yourself as one of the victims that died that day. You captured the imagery and deep emotions that went on that heartfelt day. An intense time of crisis that shouldn't have happened inside the twin towers. How could that had happened to hijack a plane. Thank you for sharing. Eve

Eve, dear! What a thoughtful response. Who can forget the heartbreak and hollowness of that day? It was a well-planned attack. We had been warned before W was president, but previous resident of White House refused to do a thing with Bin-Laden. How do you sleep with all those deaths under your pillow? We cannot bring the dead back. We can only face evil today and stomp it out. No hesitation. Thank you. Panagiota xx

Good morning Tom! Sadly, those who love Palestine and hate Jews infected our Congress. Rep.Omar who married her own brother to get here needs removal. Here's her interpretation of 9/11: "someone did something to someone!" she and her ilk would kill and insult anyone. She's more than happy to get a FAT paycheck from American taxes. My dearest Lindsay~ every year and during 9/11 they play replays of that day. I see it. It still seems like a new event. You should look on you tube and take a tour of the WTC Memorial. My daughter went to NYC. She cried during the entire tour. Seeing all those pictures of those who perished, parts of the WTC, recordings did her in. And you ARE right. Look at the paltry responses to this powerful poem. You,are number 2? What is it about we poets and reality. We are drunk on Muses, butterflies and meatloaf and kisses? I tell you, this world is going to hell fast. They don't want to remember the Holocaust either. Love from the USA, Panagiota xxx
