Woman, the Lighted Candle

Women of the world, my tribute to you!
You are the mother, you are the wife,
You are the daughter, you are the sister!
you are the breath of womanhood! You have
                      nourished, you have protected ..families,
with your strength, your ability to heal..
Woman, you are the lighted candle which
illuminates world with harmony and peace.

Women of the world, you are ruby-red roses
in flower-gardens, you spread the fragrance
of amaranth emanating from heaven, music from
your harp, serenades magic on the cosmos,
you are the rain which drizzles earth.
Today's modern women or yesteryear's wise,
You are the candle which burns and burns
to ensure love and happiness in the world.

My salute to you, Women empowered, who
                          ignored all obstacles..epitomes of
                           intellectual and spiritual virtues,
decided your own path, had your voice heard.
you became creative writers, and teachers,
                   talented composers, and poets..you became
Joan of Arc, you became Rani Lakshmibai.
You are Marie Curie - the candle which reignites.

Kindness, and compassion - virtues which heal,
virtues turn into bravery when you need.
You have all - You passionately love, nurture,
you fight, you sacrifice, you wipe tears.
Women of the world, believe in yourself...
You are the candle which keeps burning
to shine an aura of light in darkness and despair,
in sorrow, grief, and intense sufferings.

Woman, You are Nature's Supreme Gift!

"You are ruby red roses in flower garden." What a beautiful image among the beautiful images in your garden of tribute and recognition of women and our roles. Mala, this is such an admirable picture of women. It is no wonder to find it on the winners list. Congratulations dear friend. Hugs and blessings.

You are right, Christuraj. Many of us lack confidence in ourselves. They need to understand how precious they are!

Amen, a wonderful descriptive tribute to God's gift to humanity...Woman. Your poem was inspiring and uplifting. I was blessed with a loving and godly mother and grandmother. I'm married to my soulmate, and I'm honored to be chosen to be her husband. I hope your Ode encourages many young women to be the best they can be and bow to no one except their creator God. Smiles ~ Blessings, Bill

Dear Bill, beauty of your inspiring words touched me deeply. Your comments are received with joy and gratitude. I am glad to know about your loving mother and grandmother - that’s a remarkable blessing in life. Your wife is lucky woman to be with you, and you are equally fortunate! “ I hope your Ode encourages many young women to be the best they can be and bow to no one except their creator God” - these words gave me so much joy! I started writing a bit late in my life, still hope to continue with inspiration from my poet-friends. Blessings ~ Mala

Dear Poet and My Friend, Namaskar and Shalom. I am actually Mrs. Ray - Choudhury is my maiden name. I am really glad to know that you liked the Ode. Perhaps it reminded you of your mother - I am so sorry to hear that she passed away in her sixties. Are you located in South Africa? I was born and grew up in India, but finally moved to Canada. It's also inspiring to know that you enjoyed my translation of Tagore's poems. I am originally from Bengal, so very very influenced by Tagore's work. Thank you for your uplifting words. Will look forward to reading your poems. Best wishes ~ Mala
