Dear Tom, this is so heartfelt and how youv written your tanka is so good, youv said it all and we can feel and understand how your first poem was born, through emotions and grief i think many too can resonate with that. And i especially felt the lines “ some were old some young“ and that last line is so poetic and leaves an everlasting impression! Evocative tanka! I dont remember when exactly i first wrote.Pleasure reading this. Sending you light always: and best wishes for the contest too.

Thank you very much IE, My cousin and I talked about remembering loved ones lost at our first family reunion in Ireland and so I composed a poem to pay tribute to them. I enjoyed writing and become hooked, I looked on line at poetry sites and found soup, that was seven years ago and I've never looked back. Tom

When mind gets soaked in emotions, words come out as verses. It is natural for any one to read out an obituary in poetic form during the occasion of the departure of our dear ones. From there you have been undertaking a long journey and have become a poet of renown. May you continue your journey with greater success.

Thank you very much Valsa, It was only after I'd written it that it occurred to me it was something I could do and enjoyed doing it. That was 7 years ago and I've never looked back. Tom

Tom your first poem was one of the most significant ones you will ever right. Especially about the Dear Souls that left the family. You have since then graduated to more complex forms of poetry and have mastered each one in its own right. Your Narratives, and Free Verse are my favorite as you tell, and lead us in your Story and theme. Your writing gift has an ancestry history of your first creation, which you will always cherish and remember. Thank you for sharing my friend, and keep on writing.

And a de je veux mingled in the head ' with terminal reality.' cold and hard, that affronts Ones sensitivity; and quest for connection, to Hold onto union, a desire for redemtion for validity eternally In this world of ours.' Thank you Anne Lise, it's amazing when you think about it, if I hadn't written it I wouldn't have bothered looking for a poetry site to join. It was meant to be and I often think about it. Tom
