Lighthouse
Standing on her pedestal unwilling to relinquish,
plunging into darkness the tempest struck,
her eternal rolls to the frothing rages of the sea.
Provoke, the lion roars and spawn inscrutable terror,
but the watchtower refuses to buckle to bend the knee.
Her shivering and drenching embodiment
hidden in the darkness by torrential rain;
endures its deadly dark flooding wrath.
Her brilliant beacon wet with tears,
peers out enthralled, piercing the darkness.
Gales raise briny waves with pounding rhythm
toying upon the ships.
A calm comes over and soothes the storm;
where the bright blue sky meets the indigo sea,
waves roll into shore, cap with sea foam
before moving back into the sea.
With a deep breath of woven weariness
emerge from within;
she still stands on her pedestal.
