Chasing Zeros

Who am I really A complicated soul Sinking in the mire and madness The unrelenting sadness No escape, no silver lining No saviour coming With armor shining The spinning cog in the attic Screeches to a halt Burning up precious memories Once saved in the vault My dead eyes stare for hours At the dead wilting flowers Saved for the lover who never arrived And here I am alone Just a complicated soul So deep in this hole I scream at my mirror to make my image Run away But it just snickers at me Says it's here to stay Mockingly raises his glass Here's to the hollow man To the hero chasing zeros.

Carl, this is a depressing write. To see others and feel as empty. At one time, I had all kinds of doubts about life, every flower was dead and gone. I was chasing nothing, the way you describe above. Your words above are deep, I'm not going to lie to you. I love the write above. The imagery's dark and gray. The way I like my poems... Sending hugs my friend... LINDA
