~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ring out the darkness, the falsehoods, and the thousand wars of old. Ring in the light, the love of truth, and the common love of good. Ring out midnight bell! Ring out that I might end my mournful rhymes.
Nicely composed Sijo, dear Sara. Unfortunately, In our humble abode, a cacophony of explosive illuminations rents the air, shattering the confines of time and heralding the arrival of a new year. The boisterous symphony of nocturnal revelry permeated our neighborhood, rendering restful slumber an elusive pursuit.
thank you, kind Sotto, for your visit. We, too, had a 'cacophony of explosive illuminations' heralding in the new year. Sleep? Our neighbors had other plans...same thing happens on the night of 4th of July...except those start days before the 4th and end days after. I've learned to sleep through them. Or perhaps (perish the thought) my hearing has diminished. :-) Have a great day, your poetess friend in Texas, Sara
Ring out sweet bells. What a wonderful idea, ringing away all hate and anger.
Would that not be so wonderful..if the bell tolled and wiped out all unhappiness! Ahh…
