To the one who searches for any available pleasure here and now She makes herself available even if the brothels had to close ~ The wages were usually enough for a living she does not neglect the church - the hymnal was on the dresser places where sexuality is expressed, without taboo Power and submission The female body _ an object of masculine desire A crack of self-loathing camouflaged well The despair and the fear by threat or risk ~ When the brothel is closed the women ends up on the street Violence against prostitutes is increasing they become defenseless Body will always sell Prostitution _ is the world's oldest profession, and it will never crumble away The window of the soul is misted by tears Although things do not changes for a tear 16/02/2021 Sun :) - A-L Andresen :) Copyright © All Rights Reserved They Closed The Brothel Poetry Contest Sponsored by: Kai Michael Neumann 6th place in the contest

Pushing prostitution onto the streets was never a good idea for the safety of the ladies in question, it exists, learn to respect it, these ladies put their lives at risk for all, the men who take their souls, and the women there after who accept their stolen souls when the man comes home who are lucky not to have to live those ladies lives, love your heart of the matter write Anne-lise, well done . . . : )

A powerful, thought provoking write. Such accurate observations when women are viewed as commodities as you note so well. Best wishes + congratulations, Brian

Hi Sunshine smile yes the oldest profession in the world and the most desperate. Some men seek them out not caring about the prostitute, his family, and yes about the possibility of getting sick himself. It is a disaster, how sad that they have no one who really cares, they are used and abused. This poem is a winner I am certain. Hugs and blessings. Jennifer.

The "oldest profession" which offers its services to the lonely, bringing fleeting joy to those who seek consolation! A superb poem dealing with this universal truth! Good luck dearest, Anne-Lise! Hugs xxx

It must be a very sad way of life, Sunshine. I pity young teen runaways who get trapped in such lifestyles. You created a character and made us "feel" for her. I think that's the highest achievement of any poem -- to connect on an emotional level. Excellent work, Sunshine. Winning wishes for you! Hugs, Carolyn

A difficult and multilayered issue. You have captured it well here. It’s not always about sex I think. People have a hunger for human contact and yes conversation. There are many men in and out of relationships that are dying of loneliness. Still there are others that want to satisfy their appetites without taking account of how women are being victimized.

I have never walked in their shoes. Now women can sell themselves online. The glory of the Internet? Not to mention the men who cheat on wives without a second thought. They are deemed innocent? Not in my book. Illness, danger...wow? Quite a poem, Anne Lise! There WOULd never be this profession if men were satisfied and faithful. Pangie

A sad state of affairs. Prostitution cannot be eradicated. But it constitutes loss of the soul. ~~

Hi Anne-Lise, You've penned a sad but true write. Prostitution is the oldest profession, and it's not going anywhere—good entry for the contest theme. Best wishes in the contest. Have a great day- Alexis

Sad but true. These women think this is the only way they can survive. By demeaning themselves and letting others do the same to them. Too bad they don't listen to the people who care what happens to them and turn their life around. Good one Anne-Lise. God Bless, JB
