The Man Amazes Me

He lived in chilly, damp London at the intersection of Medieval and Modernity We know little of his life Some indeed question if he even existed at all Yet this mysterious figure known as Shakespeare Wrote of events in Ancient Rome in Africa, Denmark and medieval Italy across space and time As if he had experienced them intimately... I don’t know about you but as for me I can only write of what I've experienced ~ personally

Hello Gershon, Shakespeare seemed to transcend every barrier writing with such authority and soul about distant lands and times he could never have known firsthand. It amazes me, too, how his words travel across empires, centuries and the limits of what’s possible breathing life into experiences far beyond his own. A Wonder! Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

Dear Gershon, your musings on Shakespeare are captivating and intriguing. I adore the first stanza with "the intersection of Medieval/and Modernity' - it captures the era so poetically. Your last stanza is a grand finale to a wonderful piece. Your admiration for the "man" who could write of events "across space and time" is beautifully and reverently expressed. Warmest wishes, my poet friend.. ~Susan

I enjoyed your pondering in Shakespeare. It is so true. How did he create that sense of another place he hadn't seen? People have the same foibles and heroism perhaps. He wrote like the great Renaissance and Romantic artists painted heroic scenes. Unique man.

Shakespeare was pure genius...so informed on politics and culture and without the Internet :-) I agree...sometimes a challenge for me to detach and write universally.

That mostly true of my meager offerings, Gershon. As for Shakespear ... something to ponder. Have a nice day, as we use to say about 50 years ago. LOL Bill
