The Man Amazes Me

        He lived in chilly, damp London
           at the intersection of Medieval
              and Modernity

        We know little of his life
           Some indeed question 
              if he even existed at all

         Yet this mysterious figure
            known as Shakespeare
            
         Wrote of events in Ancient Rome
            in Africa, Denmark and medieval Italy
               across space and time
           
         As if he had experienced them intimately...

         I don’t know about you 
             but as for me
         I can only write of what I've experienced 
                                             ~ personally

It amazes me, too, how his words travel across empires, centuries and the limits of what’s possible breathing life into experiences far beyond his own. A Wonder! Blessings, My Friend, Daniel

I adore the first stanza with "the intersection of Medieval/and Modernity' - it captures the era so poetically. Your last stanza is a grand finale to a wonderful piece. People have the same foibles and heroism perhaps. He wrote like the great Renaissance and Romantic artists painted heroic scenes. Unique man.
