In a Summer's Sigh

on the wisp of a dandelion seed
my wishes float endlessly
adrift from the confines of mind

my thoughts arise
with endless emotion
as my body shivers
with the same motion
as these dandelions
beneath the soft breath
of summer's exhale
as it whispers
gently upon them

my heart bleeds for you
with the same passion
as this sun
rising across the sky
it blushes
in the same tones
as my flesh
bared
beneath your touch

i watch
as the kiss
of morning
erupts
in blushed strokes
across this sky

i listen as the birds sing
short ballads of love
within the heated breaths
of summer's sighs

i sigh
as i close my eyes
beneath your touch
awakening in my mind
as it climaxes
with desires
adrift in the rift
of dandelion seeds

I love all the respiratatory references: breath/exhale/whisper/sigh. You have such mastery over the language of subtlety with blushes, shivers, kiss of morning, heated breaths, and climaxing with desires (okay, maybe that last one wasn't quite as subtle, but it made a perfect 10 on the landing). Great poetry, as always I'm a big fan. Miss you in July, hope all is well. Hugs ~ John

I was thinking this is sensual! As I read "awakening in my mind as it climaxes with desires" then I saw the name of the contest and I laughed. So write!

Next time I see any Dandelions, I'll not see them, for I'll be seeing your poem before my eyes, and yes, love how you use a simple dandelion as the main, many congrats on your win, James :) x
