A Thanksgiving On Wheels

When my chef son came home from the navy
He wanted to make Thanksgiving gravy
And would like to process
A live Turkey they’d bless
And then sought out his farmer friend Davy

Well he then went on his way to the farm
Since we thought that he could not do much harm
And he gave us his word
That he’d pick a nice bird
And then come home with it under his arm

While he was out we joked of Navy lore
Of how they must make so much food galore
Then we heard a large truck
And were then horror struck
Seeing a wheelbarrow come through our door

Loaded with turkeys right up to the top
Pushed by my son who said ‘Here they are pop’
Then the next wheelbarrow
Shot in like an arrow
Filled with gravy made with all of the slop

LOL! Now my question is do you really have a son who serves as a chef for the Navy? My son was a chef on board a submarine. Love this limerick - loads of fun!

Thanks, and what a cool job on a sub! But no, no sons are a chef in the forces.

Yes, that would be a lot of cooking. That's a fine holiday limerick.

Thanks so much for the congrats, Bill, and kind words on writing. Congrats to you too if you're in the book, but I'm not sure how to find out the authors yet without buying the book; which is probably amazing. And Happy Thanksgiving!
