Dead Ends

I pray to the god of everlasting remorse.
I rip out my heart to throw on the altar of dead ends.
May I be delivered from the sinful haters,
To re-establish ties with my benevolent friends.

Hilda, this is haunting and powerful. The imagery of the heart on the altar gripped me—so raw and full of longing. Few lines, but they cut deep. Thank you for this.
