A lot of wonderful music exists, and chet Atkins was a master at perfecting the country sound. Fortunately, we have recordings of his great style.

Chet Atkin’s life work was profound Mr. Guitar made Nashville’s sound There’s no one to fret Yet do one more set From around his burial mound

This is a great limerick dear Duke accompanied by a great video. I’m not familiar with Chet but of course know the great Mark of Dire Straits. Brilliant guitarists. How I wish I could play! A great tribute to his skill. The last line is very touching. Really enjoyed it my friend. Thank you for sharing. Have a great weekend :):)

This is a sweet tribute. Another person I don't know of. Guess I'm not up on too many musicians.

Andrea, Chet Atkins is worth listening to. He developed a style of playing rhythm with two fingers and strumming melodies with the remaining three. He was like a one-man band. He also made it all look easy and had a great stage personna. The attached youtube video will give you an idea.

Vijay, you're very kind. He has given something to me with his music, so this was the least I could do.

Chet akin, sounds like a talented soul that i need to listen to, i love the title of this limerick so much. It reminded me of a song by the corrs, not sure if you’d know them. They play violin very well. You might like do listen to “only when i sleep” a fave song of mine. Pleasure always reading your work and seeing you post on soup. I do appreciate your selfless support also! Sending you light always

The Corrs were unknown to me before today. They have a different style, from what I usually listen to, but it's enjoyable and passionate. The song is filled with a lot of yearning/dreaming for love. It has a melody I can remember, which I consider either good for me or for them--not sure. I am in a happy marriage of 46 years and so I think the song applies to people in a different situation. Fortunately, we communicate well while awake (lol)!!! I really appreciate the opportunity to listen to this song and hope you have a great evening and tomorrow!!

I would like to express my regard for Chet Atkins, a prominent figure in Nashville's music scene, through a superb Limerick "Dear Duke." The limerick revolves around his enduring legacy and major impact on the music industry. You pay tribute to Chet Atkins by using wordplay and references to music. The title "Mr. Guitar" emphasizes Atkins' exceptional guitar-playing abilities and esteemed reputation. The term "fret" is a clever wordplay that involves both the act of worrying and the concept of frets on a guitar. In addition to its literal meaning, the word "set" can also refer to a musical performance or setlist.

SP, You always make such on target and insightful comments. Your understanding of language and how to use words is unsurpassed. In truth, I usually have to look up a word or two when reading your poems, but I find it fun as I try to figure out what you are communicating. It occurred to me that I enjoy listening to Mr. Guitar every so often, and I appreciate his contribution to society. His music is really wonderful to listen to....a real gift from beyond.

Sara, I love your comment. There are many musicians I like to listen to as well....I like the ones who have the ability to time their phrasing in such a way that it makes an emotional connection. Chet does it with his guitar and song, and he has a great range of abilities including light jazz. I always thought Patsy Cline was a master at knowing just how to pause and delay to make a dramatic emotional effect. Even classical music played with feeling and artistic timing can be wonderful! There's nothing like the music-emotion connection.

SO, he has an interesting biography on wiki. He started out very poor. We can tell he really loved music. You are very kind with the complement. I just experience life and try writing about how I feel or what comes to me. You have a great style of your own, which I find fascinating. It's a pleasure really.

Tom, what is amazing to me is how easy he makes it look. He did so many tunes and had such an unassuming presence. His style reminds me of you a bit!!! You leave a remarkable impression on all of us!!

Anaya, he really was a fantastic guitar player. He had a method to play two parts at the same time. Hard for us mere mortals to fathom. Thanks for the comment and your wonderful poetry!!

Jan thanks. I have been listening to recordings by Chet Atkins for several years. It just hit me a few days ago that I could do something to honor this phenomenal musician. I have some preferences, of course, but he has a great style. For example, I like Jerry's Breakdown, which he performed with Jerry Reid. It's fun.
