My Special Day
I wish you could be there, On my special day, To be there when I wake up, To hold me in your arms, To whisper words of advice. I wish you could be there, On my special day, To kiss my cheek, To straighten my veil, To tell me I’m beautiful. I wish you could be there, On my special day, To help me out of the car, To walk with me down the aisle, To give me away. But I know you’ll be there, In the most important place, Kept safely in my heart, And in the hearts of our family, And I know you’d be so proud, On my special day. 7 November 2012

One of My Finest Hours
One of the finest hours I can recall Came at a momentous time in my life, When I stood before the altar, so tall, Took Deborah Anne Going for my wife Because, before, my life was full of strife I was floundering along, life quite dull In my early forties, a dismal lull, I wondered what life for me portended. Everyone of my friends’ lives seemed so full Deb came along, my life became splendid. written June 23, 2021 [Thinking about my wonderful wife, Deborah, who passed away on November 22, 2018.]
