Elan World - part 7 and the Finale

by

"Elaine? ELAINE! Doctor Smith, she's been like this for two days. All she does is stare at the ceiling. She hasn't eaten or said a word to anyone. It's like she's dreaming, yet awake. Please doctor, DO SOMETHING!"

I'm sorry Mrs. Shelby but since the accident Elaine's condition has continued to worsen. Not physically. Her broken neck resulted in full paralysis that will never get any better, neither will it likely get worse. It's her mental state that I'm concerned with. She loved that horse with all her heart, it was the center of her life. When Daisy broke her leg and the two of them went down it destroyed Elaine's body. But when the horse had to be put down it impacted her psychologically. I'm afraid there's nothing more I can do. I wish I had better news."

"I understand doctor. But will we ever have our little girl back? Does she even know who we are anymore?"

"I wish I could say. We'll just have to wait and see. Expect the worst, Mrs. Shelby. I'm sorry."

The people gather 'round me with elation and good cheer.

This world where no one suffers has to me become quite dear.

The threat to peace is over now, we've won the holy fight.

But somewhere deep inside me there is something still not right.

From a distant place a voice keeps calling my true name.

Elana is my name here, yet the voice calls out Elaine.

I feel myself grow tired and am shortly sound asleep.

The Elanites around me say my memory they'll keep.

As I awake I look around... but... can't move my limbs-

Mom? MOMMY! Help me please! OH GOD, HELP ME!"

Finale - Transcendence

"Doctor, help her - please!" said Elaine's mother.

"I'm sorry ma'am, she's in and out of this catatonic state.

There is nothing you or I or anyone else on earth can do.

All we can hope for now is a miracle," replied the doctor.

As I come to I find myself alone, yet unafraid.

A forest creature comes to me and for a while stays.

I wonder why I'm back again and why I left my home,

then pull myself up off the ground and set about to roam.

The sky is pure, the air is sweet and everything seems right,

the evil that had dwelt here once long dead and out of sight.

My wings are back and soon a gentle breeze begins to blow,

before too long I sail the skies and leave the wood below.

A southern zephyr takes me to my hillside castle home,

I ease into an entrance gate adorned with giant gnomes.

The man I'd met my first time here is waiting just inside,

as I approach he welcomes me with arms held open wide.

A banquet's being held for me and all my friends are here,

those who helped me in my quest to bring about what's fair.

They rise as one and bow to me then fall upon their knees,

'Elana, Queen of Elan' someone says, 'now silence please.'

I ask them to get up and sit and listen for a spin,

I stutter 'round for just a bit then say, 'Where to begin?

Once I was an earthling girl who never had a chance,

never learned to drive a car and never got to dance.

I've left the earth fore'er and e'er and here I'll always stay,

your queen shall always care for you, forever and a day.'

The room explodes with happy sounds of grateful Elanites,

envisioning upon themselves transcendent days and nights.

Time to eat before before the night encompasses the land,

time to speak of joyous things and map out future plans.

"I realize now I can't return to where I lived before-

my future's bright, as if I've stepped right through an opened door.

Humanity I've left behind to live here in resplendence,

a path that took me to the stars and keeps me in transcendence."

Thanks for patiently reading till the end, both of you. The imagination can be a powerful thing. For some, to live there is preferable to reality. :)

The first person you call out to whatever state in is your mother :) What a positive tale with a hopeful ending.. If only Elaine's parents knew. Still nothing comes easy without a fight (literally here) I can't imagine this was easy to write.. simply brilliant narration I think and effortless! Also love the message. Hopefully more people read this and it is recognized.. I would wait to see that :)

This is your best story yet. I think it could be expanded.
