Elan World - part 1 of 8

by

I woke up wet with morning dew, 'twas clear some time had passed.
The last thing I remember I was ill and fading fast.
To my surprise I then discovered wings upon my back.
"What is this place?" I wondered, as I froze there in my tracks.

I gazed about and marveled at the beauty all around
and everywhere I turned to I heard nature's rhythmic sounds.
I looked above and scanned the bluest sky I'd ever seen.
This awesome world I woke up in was surely just a dream.

I walked along a narrow path that edged a winding stream.
I wondered where it led to and what wondrous things I'd see.
The trail led through a hollow then into a woodland thick.
Along the way I sang a tune, lush flowers I would pick.

The path came to a clearing as I pondered on my fate.
I wondered, was it possible I stood at heaven's gate?
The forest creatures came to me and bowed down at my feet.
I felt a love so soft and warm, my heart was now replete.

A soft wind blew, I felt myself arise from off the ground.
The wings I'd grown now fluttered, though they never made a sound.
Before too long I'm flying high above the ground below.
I sensed the wind was guiding me to where I now must go.

A castle in the distance gleams as brightly as the sun.
The breeze began to settle and I knew my flight was done.
The palace entrance opened as I walked toward it's light.
I felt a sudden peacefulness and sensed 'twould be alright.

No one there I glanced around, such beauty everywhere!
Could this be my castle home, or should I leave from here?
It wasn't long before a kind old man approached and said:
"Welcome home young princess child, your father's ill in bed."

I followed him down marble halls confused, but unafraid.
This man was called 'my father?' I believe that's what he said.
We entered through a wooden door and there he was indeed.
I knelt down there beside his bed and heard him make this plea:

"Princess child you've traveled far to sit upon my throne.
I'm dying soon and moving on to worlds that are unknown.
This realm is yours forevermore and every living thing
will bow to you my Princess child, let freedom's bell now ring!"

With that he closed his eyes and drifted off, then breathed his last.
A new home thus awaited me, forget about my past.
I looked about into the world from my new castle home-
a rainbow arched from east to west, and I knew...

I'd never be alone.

intriguing...such a beautiful gesture, a father (unknown) leaving everything that meant Everything to him in this life to his daughter, so she would never be alone. The sadness of this story is, the daughter never really knew her father - but perhaps she learns about him and is drawn closer to him from the kingdom and the stories he has left behind. Yeah, of course I LOVE this story...and of course, there has to be a next Chapter.
