Quote Left At a recent computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, 'If GM had kept up with the technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon.' In response to Bill's comments, General Motors issued a press release stating: If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics: Quote Right
Quote Left Rather would I have the love songs of romantic ages, rather Don Juan and Madame Venus, rather an elopement by ladder and rope on a moonlight night, followed by the father's curse, mother's moans, and the moral comments of neighbors, than correctness and propriety measured by yardsticks. Quote Left The good news is the PC industry alone is a fabulous business. But add to that the potential of the 1 billion PC devices [consumer electronics based on the PC] and then you get to put into perspective Paul's comments. 10x increased performance, one-tenth the power consumption and 10x the market opportunity. Quote Left One of the most appalling comments on our present way of life is that half of all the beds in our hospitals are reserved for patients with nervous and mental troubles, patients who have collapsed under the crushing burden of accumulated yesterdays and fearful tomorrows. Yet a vast majority of those people would be walking the streets today, leading happy, useful lives, if they had only heeded the words of Jesus: 'Have no anxiety about the morrow'; or the words of Sir William Osler; 'Live in day-tight compartments. Quote Left 'I refer to those who describe murders/riots/panics and other catastrophes perpetrated by humans, and who say to be 'acting like animals.' I refer specifically to comments regarding a recent ship hijacking where it was said that the terrorists acted like 'cowardly animals.' These terrorists and guerrilla acts are NOT animal in nature - they are HUMAN in nature. As one who sees the balance, beauty and meaning of the world in which nonhuman animals must face life-or-death situations everyday just to survive and perpetuate their species, I grossly resent and take offense at these statements! When was the last time we saw a gorilla hijack a plane? A pod of whales hijack an ocean liner? A group of nonhuman animals walk down the street and terrorize the neighborhood??? Human animals are the terrorists and guerrillas when they go into the nonhuman animals' homes to slaughter them for fur coats, hunting trophies, plumage and all the other atrocious reasons society gives for the gross lack of respect for life, and murder of our fellow creatures inhabiting this world. If and when man comes off his ego trip, maybe he'll see just how insignificant he is to the total scheme of beings on this planet in which ALL creatures share. Then, the saying will be turned around to 'They behaved like people.'' (Letter to Abigail Van Buren in the York Daily Record) Quote Right
Quote Left It was said without full knowledge. We have spent time with him [Ellison] since, to talk about the SOA framework and he has more insight into what it is. We have been able to settle comments [about] how the architecture is not quite right. He said Siebel's architecture is compatible with the Fusion direction. He will be more specific about the role it will play. He [Ellison] has a better handle on what Nexus is today than at OpenWorld. Quote Right

Quote Left I am pissed off with this site - I, the lovely Edna Sweetlove, have submitted 6 poems here and they've been viewed/seen by over 330 people. How many comments do you think I have had? FOUR and they were about as useful as t-i-t-s on a bull and as interesting as a stale fart in a bottle. Why don't you all join a more sensible website? Quote Left What I find is that I know of a women from my past, I think, a member of the poetry community here infiltrating my poems with comments. It's funny. She writes under the guise of different accounts ... I call them wooden ducks... she says oh, oh, your poem is so good. Fake praise, I think. She throws me a 7. I laugh. We're cats and dogs.
