Emily's Song

And all at once
the light shone through –
A shining blaze
of golden hue –
A light of hope –
The darkness gone –
A light that proved
the day had won –
As earth had turned
once more around –
And beasts of night
Not to be found –
A nation woke
from pleasant sleep –
And ‘round the globe
they’re counting sheep.
