Sunflower seeds sewn into the ground
Embroidered into rows of beds of brown
Pinned down by the sun's rays
With warm golden threads
Of brilliant yellows and rosy reds
sewn by the quilter's hand
Stitch by stitch thread by thread
Fabric by fabric she layers
the fertile lands and flowing rivers
of blue, green and yellow silken threads.
weaving its way into the sprouting beds.
