I wrote this last night, late. The following is the first draft. All comments welcome.

The Train
sitting on the train
racing toward the horizon
passing a station
not stopping
am I on the right train
my compatriots
reading the news
gazing at the passing landscape
talking and playing cards
perhaps attending to business
the conductor remains unperturbed
and cannot explain
why we move on without pause
perhaps we will stop at the next
he whispers to me
perhaps we will stop
when we reach the horizon
the train races on
