I saw alittle chestnut bird who flew
To and fro for a love that might be true
He wailedand screamed but none would answer him
And so I ranto follow on a whim

At last he settled on a withered branch
Its golden leaves flew in an avalanche
Tumbling down the dark mass on which he perched
He failed to find the one for whom he searched

And so I turned to follow the path home
Spotted my car with shining silver chrome
And drove back with a disappointed frown
Until I grinned to see a streak of brown
