I'm no pro, but this is how i got started -
it happened naturally when i began to pen emotion, issue, anything really close to my heart..

I first pen just as the thoughts emerge - no thinking/ editing/ stopping etc.

Once the flow stops & I've gotten whatever it is off my chest,

I re-read & edit... see how i can change words, replace something with imagery, omit some words etc.

the writing will develop as you engage in these tasks & as it takes shape you will slowly round it off until the result satisfies you! P.S. it helps to give work a fresh read after a day or two of working with it!!

Remember there's a poet & writer inside each one of us -

we just proclaim it differently & per our unique make-up & experiences!

Hope this helps! All the best!
