Shackle me to my car

bind me in my books,

tied up in time

I suffocate.

Strangled, mangled, rooted in loose soil,

neglected nutrients flourish elsewhere.

Quicksand rituals reign,

owed worth, work only to make it worse

I worry.

Bourgeois burglars burp the eggshells on which I waltz

seamlessly slipping through the cracks

I cannot win.
