Consumed with fury while lying exhausted in bed, Coughing, wheezing, with perspiration on his head. Three days’ pay lost with children to nourish, Guilt and sorrow hindering his body to flourish “This is simply not right,” he instinctively thought. “Losing subsistence over a condition unsought. It is immoral and unjust that I lie here in pique, Succumbing to a fate so tragic and bleak.” When through the television a man stood revered, Handsome, charismatic, and sporting a beard. “Mandatory sick days and benefits galore!” he proclaimed. “We must do the right thing, so go, and vote unashamed!” Driven by virtue and righteousness combined. He turned in his ballot, folded and signed. Three months passed and glory behold, The yeas defeated the nays, just shy of twofold. Driving his car into work the next day, Euphoria and freedom replaced his dismay. Entering his office, face all aglow, He realized the mood was uncomfortably low. Have they not heard the wonderful news, That between income and benefits, we mustn’t choose! When on the verge of this unabashed exclaim, He noticed boxes being packed and tears overcame. A letter on his desk and the world fell apart. Knowing the contents would decimate his heart. “We must close our doors, there’s no other way. We don’t earn the profit now required to pay.” Seated in his car alone in stifling thought, The phone began to ring, his sick child, distraught. Genuinely ruminating while driving to the school, He gleaned wisdom that made him feel like a fool. That despite his feelings and sorrowful plight, Resources are limited and not a birthright. For every withdrawal demands symmetry or more; Otherwise, nature—indifferent—will inevitably restore.

Chandler, a wise poem. I really have no criticism - you did it well and make a good point. It reads pretty darn well - if you've read it to yourself a few times and are satisfied with the way the lines work together, with the syllabic counts, etc., then I'd say you're good.
