To Know The Times

how can we here in our times
come to know good truth
how can we watch with open eyes
what seems here so uncouth
how can we wonder where we're going
where will we find an end
to this turmoil flowing over
our heads when stuck in sand
do we look to future outcomes
or do we look back to
those same situations rendered
by folks who status knew
status of an epic time
when struggles began again
forced by staunch will of man
and their wish to kill again
