When our son was five years old, he used to go to work with my wife almost everyday in summer. Her family owned a small restaurant in our town. One day, my wife stopped at the local station to get gas, taking him inside with her when she went to pay. His eyes lit up when he saw the packages of cookies in the vending machine, and nothing could silence him until she had put in the 25 cents for a package of 8 cookies.

When they arrived at the restaurant, his Grandma got him a glass of milk to go with his cookies, and asked if he would share one with her. He told her it would cost her a nickel. It struck her so funny that she kept laughing

and eventually gave him the 5 cents for a cookie. She thought it wonderful that he would be so enterprising at
his age to ask for money for a cookie, that she told the story to everyone.

One of the waitresses went over to where he was with his milk and cookies and asked if she could have one. He told her she could have one for 25 cents. Taken aback, she said that Grandma only had to pay 5 cents and asked why the difference in price.

He said, "She gets the family discount".

TRUE STORY.
