Yes, I think featuring a certain, form of poetry weekly, would be a good learning experience for everyone on the site.

I voted no because there are legitimate forms of poetry I wouldn't waste my valuable time on.
If I completed a poem and wanted to publish it on that day when one of those forms are the only form allowed, I'd simple log into another poetry site and publish it there. Anyone with foresight can see that it would be driving poets away from PS.

We would never limit what forms are posted on PoetrySoup. Poets will always be able to post any form. We are just asking, would you like to see a specific form featured occassionally. We used to do it and poets loved it.

I agree with Catie Lindsey's response. I think it would be nice to see a lot of the same type of poem featured once in awhile on the weekly features. Maybe once a month would be nice.

If that be the case, than I change my vote to yes.

I believe we should be able to publish any kind of poetry any day any time - whenever the mood strikes. Focusing one genre a day or week would only enhance the open publishing scheme currently in place. Let freedom ring ...

Show a form of poetry highlighted each week. Even if it is a top whatever? My thoughts are that if we can show what the site is producing inturn enhances the creativity in the said forms > Chowa >> The Highlander.......

As long as we can post any form of poetry that we feel a call to write, featuring types of poetry would be an interesting learning opportunity.

I think that it is a good idea and will help those who only write certain forms to expand and try something new.. That is what I like most about this site learning new forms and new things about poetry, in a safe and comfortable environment.. cory

I say mix it up a bit. This site needs to be evolving and energizing at the same time. Try the format for 2 months and then request feedback...never restrict what each poet can write though. When you limit a poet's mind, you may cause terminal writer's block or another poet migrating away from this lovely site.
My input as you requested.

Absolutely. I believe anything that will expand a poets portfolio of knowledge, regarding poetic forms, is a great idea. As you stated, if you were to do this on an occasional basis, it would allow poets to see how certain forms are done. It would encourage poets to step out of their safety zone and try something new.
