Contest Description
Is there a poem you’ve written where you’ve really surprised yourself?
Maybe the poem showed off skill, or wit, or depths that you never let yourself believe you possessed.
Maybe you’re reading this, and a poem is coming to mind already. THAT is the poem I want you to submit.
The only restrictions are: no prose poetry, and please no religious or political themes.
Please ensure it is dated, and then write me a quick one-liner below the poem to explain what it is about this poem that made you particularly proud to be its creator. Don’t be shy.
I know I’m asking you to present me with your most precious babies for judging which is, perversely, why this is a premiere contest. Nothing worse than one of your most valued creations being left off a long winners’ list. This way, if you do not place, you can correctly assume that you were placed joint eleventh.
(By the way, I don’t need you to write my name at the bottom - some of you give your identities away by the way you format your contest footers and it makes it so much easier for me to judge if I can do it truly anonymously!)
