Contest Description

Square Dancing Patter Sayings are rhymes or jingles said by square dance callers Usually said while dancers are executing a long call such as Promenade Home. Most patter sayings are old-style, old-time sayings, rarely used today. Some may not be suitable for a modern western square dance, and some may even be politically incorrect. Some callers refers to them as Lagniappe. What I'm looking for are funny rhymes written in this particular form. Here are a few examples... -A right and left around the ring While the roosters crow and the birdies sing. -Ace of Diamonds, Jack of Spades, Meet your partner & promenade. -All join hands and circle to the south, Get a little moonshine in your mouth. -All join hands and circle wide, spread right out like an old cow hide. -All join hands in a great big ring Circle round and round with the dear little thing. ...And here's an example of a humorous patter saying from Looney Tunes, Bugs Bunny... Click on the link: https://youtu.be/QuaojjCV1Tk?feature=shared Each saying is two ( 2) lines that rhyme and have a certain rhythm, (which can be heard in the link above or you can search it up on Google to hear another one. (Google search- Square dance patter sayings, video or audio). For this contest, please submit humorous patter saying consisting of at least eight (8) lines, with a maximum of sixteen (16) lines. *each patter saying consists of (2)two lines, so you'll need four (4) patter sayings to make the minimum requirement of(8) eight lines. Remember, these are square Dancing calls, so write them using the correct calling language such as, promenade, do-si-do, etc...as if you would be using your lyrics to lead and instruct the dancers. Note**This is my first time creating a contest, so please, be patient with me. I'll gladly accept advise if you'd like to send it via soup mail. I'll also try to answer any questions you may have! :)
