Contest Description

What to Submit?

1 original, NEW poem on the theme of .............ACRONYMS IN COUPLETS.
COUPLETS ONLY: lines may be any number of syllables, but more than three couplets are required in your contest entry. Each line of your couplets must make use of an ACRONYM at the ending which rhymes (or near rhymes). The couplets must make good sense, flow nicely, and, preferably, be somewhat humorous.

Use my poem "GRAMPS Is Not an Acronym" as an sample.

NOTE: Acronyms are plentiful (and not just organizations like I used in my poem) Consider these:  BYOB (Bring Your Own Bottle), IMHO (In My Humble Opinion), RSVP (Respond if you are coming), etc.

I WILL BE CHOOSING ONLY THREE WINNERS (First, Second, and Third) AND THREE HONORABLE MENTIONS (Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth) SO GIVE ME YOUR BEST EFFORTS!.

Prizes

First Prize, Glory
Second Prize, Glory
Third Prize, Glory
Three Honorable Mentions

Preparing Your Entry

Submit one copy of your poem online. Format your poem. Please make your entry easy to read — no illustrations or fancy fonts. Please place the date of your poem on the bottom, but you need not mention my name or the name of the contest. GOOD LUCK!!!

English Language

Poems should be in English. Poems translated from other languages are not eligible, unless you wrote both the original poem and the translation.
