Hi!

My name is Ariana Pataki, and. I'm from Spain, from a beautiful city called Zaragoza. English is not my first language. I apologize for any mistakes my grammar may have. My parents are from Hungary and Romania, so I speak five languages: Spanish, English, French, Hungarian and Romanian. I'm currently learning Italian and Portuguese.

I love languages, since I want to work as a translator, travelling round the world and helping people understand each other.

I define myself as someone very positive, kind and sociable. I always think about others, and I try to help them out. I love being with my friends, reading novels, writing my own novels, obviously poetry and learning new stuff.

Usually, people say I'm too young to write poetry. I have been told this for years.

I started writing my own short stories at the age of ten. Those small histories were not a big deal, but led me to start to write novels at the age of 12. I started my first book in 2021, and I finished it in 2023. Right now, my goal is finishing my third thriller novel, which I called "Pulse of panic". Finally, I recently finished another short novel, which is called "Wild Heart". And then I have a TON of crime novels haha.

My parents are not big supporters of my work. They believe my novels and poems are just a way of wasting my time.I've been struggling with many stuff and writing has always helped me out. I want to have an optimistic view, and say that everything will get better.

In 2023, at school, I began to write small verses on my notebooks, words that could rhyme and could express how I felt. Slowly, everything made sense, and I made my very first poem: Overthink. After that one, everything flowed good. I began to write more and more, when I felt happy or stressed. Poetry is my way of scaping reality.

I found Poetry Soup, and started posting my poems. Lots of wonderful people started reading my poems, commenting on them and saying such beautiful things, I had to keep going! They all inspired me, and encouraged me. I'lll cherish each of them in my heart. You all are the best!! I never thought my words could be appreciated the way they do. I'm really grateful.

I'm just a teenage girl, with so many dreams and hopes. I'll keep trying my best, trying to make good poems. I'll keep learning day by day.

Thanks for reading such a long biography. Honestly, thanks for everyone who reads my poems and spend some of their time reading this biography. I'm so happy to be a part of Poetry Soup's community.

Have a great day, and take care. Be safe!

Ariana :-)

Revitalizing Life.

Hello to everyone!

After an invigorating 25-day hiatus from the digital world, I'm delighted to reconnect with you. In the throes of a whirlwind 2024, marked by the thunderous impact of my grandmother's passing, I found myself yearning for a change. Like that, I began my transformative digital detox, an experience that unfolded as a deliberate endeavor to cleanse my life of virtual clutter.

The Decision to Detox:

Amidst the incessant buzz of notifications and the constant pull of electronic devices, I felt an overwhelming need to pause and reassess. Into a drawer went my phone, computer, and tablet, creating a vacuum that allowed me to explore life beyond the pixelated screen. Fortunately, my family supported this decision, fostering an environment that valued genuine connections over the noise of the digital world, by avoiding the use of devices while I was around.

Discovering the Joy of Offline Living:

In this unplugged state, I rediscovered the simple pleasures of life. The only companions accompanying me were my cherished CD player and camera, enabling me to savor my favorite music and capture the beauty of fleeting moments. I did so many amazing photos, and enjoyed using my almost forgotten CD player. This period of disconnected bliss unveiled a wellspring of creativity I never knew existed.

Productivity and Passion Unleashed:

Freed from the shackles of virtual distractions, I seized the opportunity to embark on a creative odyssey. The days were filled with literary pursuits, culminating in the completion of another novel, crafting over 30 multilingual poems, and creating vibrant paintings. I started to write not only in English, but in Spanish and Romanian! I was so proud of myself for trying something new. Venturing into new activities, such as attending a local poetry club, not only enriched my writing but also broadened my mindset. Reciting my poems to a group of poets made me realize how nice it was to share my work with others. Who did not made me feel worse, like my teachers, but strengthened my love for poetry. Also, unexpected revelation emerged – a newfound passion for crafting articles. Contributions to my school's newspaper and collaboration with a teacher to engage middle school students in article-related activities brought immeasurable joy. Now, I enjoy writing more than ever!

Balancing the Mind and Body:

Recognizing the importance of well-being, I incorporated physical activity into my detox routine. Regular exercise became a cornerstone, offering not just a break from the digital realm but also a means to invigorate my body and clear my mind. Whether it was a run in the park, a yoga session at home, or a spontaneous dance to my favorite tunes, physical activity became an integral part of my newfound lifestyle.

Mindful Reduction, Not Elimination:

This detox served as a revelation – life can be exquisite without being tethered to the online world 24/7. While I wouldn't classify myself as an "addict," the habitual checking of socials and apps was a behavior I sought to curtail. The goal isn't to banish the internet entirely but to consciously reduce its omnipresence in my life. The result? A mind more organized, writing skills sharpened, and a profound appreciation for the beauty of life beyond the screen.

So, was it worth it?

In the midst of our fast-paced digital era, the power of a mindful digital detox is undeniable. This journey has been a testament to the joy of living authentically, fostering creativity, cherishing meaningful connections, and recognizing the importance of physical well-being. If ever you find yourself yearning for a reset, consider embarking on your own digital detox adventure – the transformative impact may surprise you, unlocking a world of possibilities beyond the confines of the digital realm. It is more than worth it!

Thanks for reading!

Ariana :-)

Bravo for having the guts to walk away and focus on reality. Exercise, getting out in nature, spending time with people you can see, touch and hear in person is invaluable. I did a virtual delete on my Instagram and Facebook accounts bc they are addictive and the content often unsavory. I've preached this message before, mostly to deaf ears, but it's important to break the addiction. Too much SM can lead to isolation, depression, even suicide for some. A healthy mind is conducive to a happy, well-balanced life. Btw, your prose in English is top-notch

Hi Tom! Glad to read your comment, you're right and being offline is quite an amazing experience. I know lots of friends which isolate themselves and spend hours on their phones, something I find silly. Why let a small screen absorb your life when there's a whole world out there, full of joyful experiences... I enjoy a lot writing blogs and articles, lately I've learnt a lot. I'll probably write an article to post it on here this weekend. Thanks for the compliment, love the expression "top-notch"! Have a lovely week.

Ariana, sorry for the loss of your beloved grandma. You are wise beyond your years. I think we should all detox from our computers, cells, and television, and radio sometimes. I am a believer in silence and meditation, great blog, hugs, Constance

I've been told "You're wise beyond your years" lately a lot. I don't really believe I'm wise, I'm just enjoying things I like doing. Though I'm grateful for your comment. Meditation has been one of my favourite hobbies these days. Clears my mind.

My deepest sympathies on the passing of your grandmother. My Grandmother passed away many years ago, and I stlli miss her. It is quite adventurous to "unplug" from the world. Other people who have done the same say, as you do, it was one of the best things they could have done for themselves. Unfortunately, it seems that large part of the world is only getting more deeply Immersed in the digital world. I look forward to reading more of your work on PS. Blessing, Chetta

Hi Chetta. Thanks for such kind comment. I believe that it seems complicated to stop using electronic devices or to stop using social media. But honestly, it is just a matter of wanting. If you want it, you can do it. Have a lovely day!
