"I Went to the Zoo" update.

Today I had six public libraries accept my self published book for inclusion to their Children collections.I was aware it is important to find and appeal to a niche group of potential buyers. In my travels I also found a new niche I was unaware of," Local Authors." My books will be cross referenced in Children books and Local Authors, another marketing category. In todays travels I explored Local Author options and made a sales relationship with a substantial Cultural Arts Center who want to retail my book in their gift shop. I then stopped by a town Chamber of Commerce who once again as a Local Author want to display my book for sale.This will give my book substantial local exposure due to the art shows and cultural events held in connection with both facilities. These sales relationships will grow as I continue to produce books and introduce my work to new readers. I see opportunities to distribute many books into areas not before thought of to me. Just thought I would pass along some positive information on publishing and now my introduction to marketing.

Thanks Andrea, I hoped there would be an interest in this process as it unfolds for me a novice. Perhaps fire up some poets to give it a try. Right now my efforts are not money driven but exposure and offering a product they will learn to trust and look for. My investment is time and smiles so far so I can be experimental and patient for opportunities to come.

Yes Tim public support was and is very freely give. There's no reason to be shy and apprehensive, just jump in and give it your best shot. The most they can do is say no and I've heard that word more than once in my life. :o)

I found everyone to be totally encouraging and supportive in my quest today. I live in the Tampa Bay area so I see many opportunities locally. More to come as I continue down this path.
