Joan Miro1893-1983,the Catalonian painter commenting on the inspiration process...'I'm the first to be surprised as the simplest things give me ideas.'

As with art,so with poetry in my experience.Each of my poetry series that I am posting currently arrived from the simplest of  ideas.(much to my surprise at the time).

Do you have this in common, , with Miro, also?

I get inspired by anything and everything around me and never know where or when an idea will spring into my mind. I was 'bullied' on the site for having a simple style but that is the way I write and I much prefer to have my poems read and understood and commented on by people rather than write poetry that no one but the author understands:-) hugs jan xx

Jan,in my experience humour in poetry is quite rare because it is difficult & does not come as easy as other genres.So you have a unique 'seam' to exploit.

I'll never change my style Brian, i try and write with humour which is so lacking in many poems I read so I try and buck the trend. I will never take criticism of my simple style to heart again, I almost gave up writing at the time but that way the bully would have won:-)Love me or loathe me ... I am here to stay:-) hugs jan xx

I agree, Brian. Your intent of using the inspiration of 'simple' things happens to me quite often. I've written about a budded flower, the frown on a child's face, a phrase in a song, and anything that sends a signal to my thoughts of picking up a pen, or sitting at a keyboard. It IS as simple as that to begin a poetic creation.
