ARE YOU SUBMERGED IN OUR POETIC WORLD?

Blog Posted:5/8/2017 3:28:00 AM

" Being submerged in poetry is far more entertaining than the real world"

This a my paraphrased adaption that I read in an art review over the weekend

Are you totally absorbed by our PS   poetry world ?

What do you find entertaing or maybe interesting here or elsewhere in your poetry world?

Maybe poetry is just one of your artistic pursuits ! Why not share with us so we get a fuller picture?

Hopefully for me this submerged experience is a stepping stone, namely the bridge to happiness and to that cake with no crumbs. Not in my wildest imagination did I think of pitching my tent here in the forest of her mystery and look beyond the trees and see the familiar eyes of my past looking back at me. It's mind boggling. A nightmare sitting in my mind of a her, I call her black bear, haunting me, chasing me up and down the river of tit for tat, cats and dogs and mostly blank stares.

Brian, I have too many other interests to be totally absorbed in poetry. Among them are trying out recipes to cook, exercising at the gym or around my house, teaching ESL, writing my Hotmail friends, seeing my weekly movies and also, I am a tv addict. I keep telling all my friends I am busy. This is why. All this and also keeping up with Soup. Oh, and my grandkids and hubbie of course!!! And my pets. Life is too short for all the things I love!

I am sorry to hear that, Andrea. Poetry is so much more important than housework.

thanks , Brian. I DO it begrudgingly but hubbie would prefer I put it before poetry. He won't even read my poems.

I would say from having read some of your successful poems in my contests, that your first priority would be to work on your own poetry(ie being a poet) and leave any commenting etc as &when with your other commitments etc

Poetry helps me turn a bad or stressful situation into something funny or meaningful. I find writing fun and therapeutic! But mostly fun!

Yes Kim I think it shows up in your poetry anyway those that have been successful in my contests
Date: 5/8/2017 7:26:00 AM
I go through phases where I read a lot on soup and phases where life and job absorb me and I barely think about poetry at all. Also, I often feel conflicted between the desire to read, comment and participate in this community and the need to work on my own poetry. I could spend all my free time here - but I need to get out and immerse myself in nature, so that I am able to write. I feel unbalanced if I don't.
