Beto Riginale Biography

Ciao a tutti !
Welcome to my work and blog. Here are a few words about me.
I was born and raised near Berkeley, California, and was introduced to the beatniks in North Beach by a high school friend in the late '50s. That is an event that influenced the rest of my life.
I studied mathematics, philosophy, and German at university. By a quirk of fate, I became a computer scientist and website designer for most of my professional life. Since retirement, I have written poetry, essays, and translated German -> English and Spanish -> English. I write only free verse, haiku, and (some) prose poetry.

My favorite poets (in no particular order) :

Allen Ginsberg
Lawrence Ferlinghetti
Gertrude Stein
E. E. Cummings
William Carlos Williams
T. S. Eliot
Jack Kerouac
Alejandra Pizarnik
Charles Bukowski

Thank you for stopping by to read my work and blog.

Beto, Interesting, very interesting this "Futilism" you speak of. In response to a quote from your blog "an inability to see the other side of a question or the need to be "right." Leaders rarely see a conflict from the other person's shoes and if they do they simply don't care, and their need to be right outweighs any rational thought that would deescalate a conflict. Losing face is not an option for a leader who is weak minded and we have all seen plenty of those over the years. Many have died to save a leader embarrassment over a wrong decision or to support their stubborn position. They pay for their ego thru the blood of patriots.

Eric, I just added a link to the Futilistic Manifest (also available on amazon). My experience is that it is not only leaders who have the problems you mention. ~beto

Yo Beto, to be poetic -- much to chew on here -- I might add since I come from the state where it's motto is "Live Free or Die" which is on our license plates, dig it, a good motto to live by yet, of course, some think it too "in your face" so to speak but back to the point. It's been said that true freedom does not exist (gravity etc.), the best we can desire is the freedom to chose that which we are to be restricted by, both for conscience and societal liberty.

HI Craig - thx for your comment :-) Guess we are sort of neighbors as my father's side of the family is from Stowe VT, long time ago. Maybe I will have the gumption to publish The Root of Conflict ~ beto
